Romania Report

We, as every other day, started early. Arriving in the church and setting up, for another busy and interesting day. The older boys (13, 14 & 15 years) have enough English and a lot of interest to ask questions about the background and extensions to the stories. One lad, Paul (13 years old) has almost perfect English, and a very intelligent and inquisitive mind, he loves discussing deeper meanings to the stories, and their historical backgrounds, which as some of you know I (Mary) love talking about.

Two, pretty little 4 year olds, are the most mischievous, cute children in the group, they follow every hand action, and have learnt most of the songs like the others. Some of the mum’s who stay, have a word sheet and also write the Romanian words along aside the English ones, and also sing along with the songs – as long as you don’t look at them! Other mums join them early to pick their children up, so they can come into the church, to listen to the end of the club and are greatly amused at our antics. Miheala, gave out 53 invitations to children today for the Bible Club Special, where we will sing most of the songs, 6 children will recite the memory verses, in English. 6 other children will give a synopsis of the story in Romanian, and we hope to end up with the congregation singing ‘Tell the merry and Sad’ (the last verse.)

After the Bible club was over we went to Chris the muscian, mothers & fathers house to lunch, with 4 courses it surpassed the rest of the week, and we all felt like rolling out. This family still keep pigs and chickens, and we ate fruit from their trees, and vegetables from their garden. At home we prepared for tomorrow and lade out Sunday’s program.
Tonight was their prayer meeting/ Bible Study which we all attended and although we were told Sabin was very interesting (which he was!) Some of us were rather tired (Did it show who fell asleep on the website?) We then returned home for a lovely dinner, and a quiet evening.

On Monday, we are due to visit the first railway system ever built and run in Romania, it was built to carry the first King of Romania (King Carol) to his Palace and Casino on the River Danube, near where we are staying. The town was a coal mining town and contains the oldest theatre in Europe. It is expected to reach about 90 degrees, so we are hoping it wont be too hot!

By Sunday, we hope to have covered the main events in the whole of Moses’ life and shown the Children, ultimately the parents the great power, love, care and judgement of God.

Just pray for us, please that we will have the physical strength to continue what has been a wonderful experience. God Bless

Ken, Mary, Deirdre, Glenys & Sarah
