About Us

Pontrhydyrun Baptist Church was founded in 1815. Since that time the church has sought to live out and share with others a lively Bible centred Christianity.

The church is made up of ordinary people who believe the Bible is God’s word. Following Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord they have found peace and contentment in daily living, and hope for life to come.

We believe that the message about Jesus Christ is as relevant today as it was when the church first began. Amongst us you will find people of all ages and backgrounds.

You are welcome to attend any of our meetings and will receive a warm welcome.

The church is affiliated to the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC) a network of almost 500 churches in the UK. FIEC churches are committed to being conservative in their theology and contemporary in their practice. This means we believe the Bible and try to base our life and teaching on what it says and we seek to live out our faith in worship, service and outreach in a way which is relevant to the 21st Century.

We are also actively involved with churches locally through the Eastern Valley Christian Workshops, the newly formed Torfaen Gospel Partnership, and the Evangelical Movement of Wales
