Sunday 22 August – The Pastor’s Back!

Our pastor is back after his summer break and will be preaching Sunday morning and evening. Sunday mornings are the best time to join us if you are new to PBC. Free refreshments are served in the back hall from 10.30 am. This is a good time to meet some of our regulars and have a chat before the main meeting. This sunday John will be preaching on Matthew 8:28-34 ‘The curious case of the demon pigs!’

Sunday evening we begin a new series looking at Galatians. The first sermon will be an introduction and overview focusing on the big lessons of the letter. The title is taken from 5:1 ‘For freedom Christ has set you free’.

Romania Report

After a very busy Sunday, we had a day off, or at least a change. With the end of the bible club, our hosts took us to one of the tourist spectacles of Romania, the oldest Railway system in the country, which climbs 1000ft. into the mountains. Before getting on the train – which had been introduced not only to provide transport for the coal, but also to convey the king and his retinue from a spar town in the hills, to a casino on the River Danube. In the spar town they constructed a theatre for the production of plays and opera to entertain the Royal visitors. The theatre is quite small but lavishly decorated and is still in perfect working order. Though not used for productions at present. The theatre also housed a museum of the events surrounding the Royal family and the work of the theatre.

Romania Report

Its now nine-fifteen and we have just returned from the evening service after an amazing day. We had a two hour session with the children for their Sunday School. The normal sunday school was augmented by most of the children, who came to the bible club. We spent the first half of the service practicing for the evening service and the second half took a further story from the life of Moses. The children responded well even though many of them did not normally attend.

After another extensive lunch we came back to Vali & Mihaelas, to finalise our presentation for the evening service. The children arrived on time accompanied by their parents and they sat in their places on the stage without any problems! The senior pastor was due to speak at another Church, but cancelled it and drove the 70km to attend the service. Pastor Sabin, conducted the service with the choir making a number of contributions.

PBC goes to Romania Romania comes to PBC!

Sunday 11 July we are delighted to welcome to our morning service Marius and Anita from Oradia in Romania. It’s great timing as all this week we have been praying for the team from PBC running a holiday bible club in Maranata Baptist Church Moldova Noua (our sister church in Romania). So while they are meeting with Romanian brothers and sisters in Romania we have the privilege of two Romanian friends meeting with us. There are no ethnic barriers with Jesus!
